This Polish band, which was founded in 2011, mainly consists of members of the black metal band Dimidium Mei. I don't know the band, but it doesn't matter. Then there's the Exhalation singer and the ex-Carnage bassist. The story is done. Like I said, since 2011 they've been banging around and have put their focus on Death Metal. In 2014 a split with the great death metal band Throneum was released. So you can get involved in the scene. Two albums and two more splits followed in 2014 and 2016, with Trauma and Hell-Born. So the guys are deeply rooted in the Polish scene. As is well known, quite interesting bands come from there, like the combos just mentioned.
Slowly, but really slowly, Offence open the album. A strange scream and a long growl follow. The tempo stays low before you conjure up a wild solo out of a hat and then let the good old Uftata speak for itself. You know, sounds good. Greetings from Sweden. You then play nicely with the tempo and the uptempo part is very cool. What follows is that melodic and atmospheric moment that's used a lot in old school Death Metal. And uptempo again, followed by a powerful midtempo part. And then the double bass reigns with tempo and a wild solo sounds again. The guitar is a little too prominent in the solos. Fast uftata and groovy mid-tempo and then it's over. The Devil Incarnate is a good opener.
R.I.P (Or Not...) is a pretty awesome title for a song and musically you can't fault the song much either. Pretty wild guitar playing at the beginning and then the full attack is launched again. Old school uptempo combined with a groovy midtempo part, slowing down the tempo, increasing the tempo, wild solo, slow moment, solo and then uptempo again. Sounds very confusing and muddled, but comes across well and at the end you really groove and let the song end like that.
The lads seem to be going down well in the scene as there are quite a few notable guests on this album. Roman Kostrzewski (KAT), Les (Damnation & Hell-Born), Don of The Dead (Nunslaughter) and Mike Perun (Cianide).
Musically, everything can be seen and heard here. They don't exactly offer much that is new, but they do put you in a good mood, especially if you're inclined to the old school. The boys have a lot of pepper in the mill and also spread it properly. Seraph Of Lust, for example, works straight forward. Tempo changes are incorporated again and again and from time to time they work with double vocals. Comes very well. Beautifully heavy, brutal and destructive.
In Inferno, with Roman Kostrzewski as a guest musician, they go the powerful, slow way and create a lot of brutal atmosphere. I think it stretches a bit. But the whispered vocals used are totally great and the slowly performed melody is also really sick. You can definitely do that. That Poles are good musicians is nothing new. At the end the tempo is increased for a short time and the inferno is finished. The song name is quite appropriate.
The lads also have it technically and also convince with song titles. Slaves To The (Un)Holy Cross and The Only Good Priest Is A Dead One speak for themselves.
The album ends with This Is A Fucking Death Metal Song and they really sing it. Right at the beginning and then the wild Uftata journey starts. A "good mood" song for death metal heads. You can grunt along, of course. The song is built very lightly in terms of riffs, but far from sounding dull in any way. World class is also something else. Of course, this song has to be played live.
You`ll Never Rest In Peace has become a more than solid Death Metal album. For Death Metal Lunatics who can never get enough.
