During the Summer of 2012 Craig Carson, Peter Hunter and Mark Smyth formed the Northern Irish Doom Sludge Metal band known as Nomadic Rituals. Nomadic Rituals dwells in low frequencies and distorted rhythms while they gulder about ancient times and theoretical futures.
Over 45 minutes, Tides explores achievement and loss. Tides being the metaphor for the ebb and flow of life. Starting with the two part launch and demise of the Cassini-Huygens space probe, the album soon moves farther into space where loneliness and paranoia emerges in 'Them'. The following two tracks 'Tumulus' and 'Moving Towards Total Disorganisation' portray the burials of ancestors and the moments of decay. Finally, the album ends on an existential note with The Burden, leaving the listener left to ponder suffering.
