A compilation of early rehearsal and demo-tracks. Tracks 6-8 are from the first
demo.

This demo was released in 1991, but the cover that is shown here (and the
official Burzum site) was released through Helvete (Euronymous' shop) sometime
after the debut album was released, meaning sometime between June the 6th 1992
(the day the church on the coverpicture was burned down - a photo from the same
series as the Aske-cover) and January 1993 (when Helvete closed for good). No
one seems to know if the 1991 pressing of the demo had cover at all, or if it
just had a handwritten inlay.

Euronymous made a mistake in the tracklist and typed up
"Ea, Lord Of The Deeps" instead of "Ea, Lord Of The Depths".
 Also in the lyrics for "Feeble Screams From Forests Unknown"
he typed up "The Hopeless Soul Keeps Waiting" instead of
"The Hopeless Soul Keeps Mating". And in "My Journey To The Stars"
(in the first line) "I materialize..." instead of "I immaterialize...".
This debut album was re-released on CD by Misanthropy Records in 1995 with
"Aske" mini-LP (as a bonus). Euronymous also plays a solo on  
"War".

At first this album was called "P Svarte Troner" but later
was renamed to "Det Som Engang Var" (What Once Was).
The album was reissued by Misanthropy Records in 1994 in two
formats: CD and gatefold LP. The LP contained a limited edition poster
of the cover art. Here is what Varg Vikernes says about this album -

The "Det Som Engang Var" album was never released on
DSP. Originally I intended to release the "Aske" mini-LP
myself as well, in early 1993, but as you know that is when I was arrested
for the first time. When I got out of jail (after six weeks and one day to be precise),
the police had taken all my papers and lists of addresses, so I agreed to let
DSP release it. My intention was to release was to start my own label,
Cymophane (first called Burznazg Productions, later changed to
Cymophane), so that I could drop the worthless DSP. I began with
this planning in late 1992 (when I printed the infamous "Aske" flyer
with the ruins of Fantoft Stavechurch on it). However, I was a bit disillusioned
by the fact that the police ruined everything I had when I was arrested, so I
thought that, okay then, I will let DSP release the this album before I start
up with my own label. I came to this conclusion simply because DSP had
got a deal with another label, Voices Of Wonder, that were to do all the work
for DSP, so I thought it could work.

Then I realised after some time that I could not only start up with my own label,
but I could get a similar deal with Voices Of Wonder as well. And I did. This
is when Euronymous got desperate, as he was frantically trying to get me to
release Burzum on DSP. So to the point; "Det Som Engang Var"
was released in August 1993 on my own label, Cymophane. It was only
released on CD and was limited to around 950 copies. I was arrested only days
after it's release though, but VoW sold some hundred copies before they
refused to co-operate with me anymore (because I was "Nazi", and I got the rest.
I have sold most of these, and given some away to friends.

In other words the "Det Som Engang Var" album was first released in
August 1993 on Cymophane, only on CD, and limited to around 950 copies.

Det Som Engang Var is Norwegian for "What Once Was".

English translation of Norwegian titles: 1. "The Coast Of Evil"; 3. "One Ring
to Rule"; 5. "The One Who Wandered"; 6. "When The Sky Clears"; 7. "Turn The
Sign Of Microcosm"; 8. "Black Thrones".

This is Varg Vikernes' last metal album. The two full-lengths after Filosofem
are ambient.

"Dunkelheit" is German for "Darkness".
Originally, this song was supposed to
be called "Burzum" which means darkness in the black
speech of Mordor, a
language created by J.R.R. Tolkien. Later, Varg decided
to use this song name
as his band name. This was the first song Varg ever composed
and wrote lyrics
for. Originally, it was supposed to be included on the first album but because
the recording quality of the song was "terrible", he decided to not include
it.

is one of the
songs to the "Gummo" soundtrack.

Recorded late 1994 / early 1995. This instrumental album is basically the
soundtrack to the story of Balder.

Album recorded while in prison for church burning and Euronymous jail
sentence.
He wasn't allowed any musical instruments in prison, so he made this album all
with MIDI format sound.

Though there are lyrics in the booklet, the music itself doesn't have any
vocals. The text is to inform the reader about what the atmosphere surrounding
the songs themselves should be, or rather, what the songs should feel like in
general.

the "democratic" banner prohibits "politically incorrect" books, symbols etc,
and send these who use those symbols to prison. What is the difference,
except that Adolf Hitler's Germany did not claim to be "democratic" of
course?

To all those who believe that this is none of their business, since it does not
affect them, I will remind them of the Roman slogan "Hodie mihi, cras tibi"
("Me today, you tommorrow". Who is the next one to be censored? You?

This low-priced sampler of a unique and diverse roster of dark artists features
bands on the Misanthropy, Elfenblut and Heroine labels. Features a 20-page
booklet containing statements from all the artists regarding prejudice and censorship.

One of the last compilations of Misanthropy Records, where Burzum's
"Et Hvitt Lys Over Skogen" (unreleased song) was presented for the
first time. Notice that text by Varg Vikernes was used by bootleggers in
"Svarte Dauen". Also Released by Heroine and Elfenblut Records.

One is the video for 'Dunkelheit', and the other is the Documentary: 'Satan Rides The Media'. All audio is in MP3 format, with the exception of a couple albums in .wma.
As you can plainly see, this took me a very long time to collect, rename, order, upgrade, and present in this fashion for you...

I don't usually require a lot of help with seeding, nor care if people do in my torrents. However, I would like it a lot more, if people took the time to leave a comment, to keep a release like this from being forgotten.
